ABOUT STEELE

Steele Chabau is an electric, upright, and synth bass player, session musician, and producer based on the Gold Coast, QLD. He performs regularly with Butterfingers, Chukalé, James Johnston, Katie Noonan, Logan, Resin Dogs, and Reuben Kaye. Steele is an alumnus of the Queensland Conservatorium and Berklee College of Music, and is a nominee for the 2023 National Live Music Awards Live Bassist of the Year.

Previous acts Steele has played with include Bradley McCaw, Brian Campeau, Brisbane Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Brook Chivell, DEEDS, Dubmarine, Emma Louise, Hannah Maxx, Harlen, Hinterland, Inland Sea, La bOum, Mason Rack Band, MKO Sun, Natalie Pearson, Pub Choir, Queensland Youth Orchestra, Route 33, and Strictly Classics. He has appeared in feature films Escape & Evasion, Seriously Red, and Streamline, and musicals Becoming Bill (Old Fashioned Productions) and Spring Awakening (Oscar Theatre Company).
